Hello everyone, I just noticed that when planning a flight you can enter a planned altitude between the individual waypoints. However, I can’t figure out what happens to that entry. Is it displayed anywhere during the flight?

Hello Frank,

Nice profile picture 👌 😀

Regarding the altitude planning, Hermann had already written something: It is currently being worked on and the altitude of the route will be further incorporated into the flight planning (e.g. winds aloft, airspace)

There’s not much to see of it yet, but I know it will be implemented really well 🙂

…so it will be, Frank. Additionally, the route will be presented clearly in the airspace cross-section according to the planned altitude of the waypoints (WPs). Another safety feature in VFRnav, especially for flights in mountainous regions.

Aviator greetings,

Karsten

I’m currently in the mountains near Gap and would like the altitude for the individual tracks to be taken into account somehow. It should at least indicate that I have reached my planned altitude.

Is this to be expected in the near future?

SkyDemon users have a big advantage here and I’m seriously thinking about switching. That would be a shame.

Regards
Bernd

Hello Bernd,

Thanks for your comment. Your request/suggestion has been in the testing phase for some time. Yes — at the moment the altitude information for planned waypoints is not yet visible to users. VFRnav has been synonymous for years with a reliably functioning flight navigation system. We intend to keep it that way despite increasing complexity.
So please be patient a little longer 🫠.
Hermann might be able to tell you more.

Clear skies,
Karsten

@KBfly
Thanks Karsten,
I have nothing further to add 👍 😀
The visual display of the route altitude is currently in testing and will be available in upcoming releases.

Clear skies
Hermann
