Hi,

You can already connect FLARM and radios to VFRnav via a Bluetooth interface. Some devices additionally support serial RS232 interfaces, e.g. the SteFly Nav.

> Lieferumfang: SteFly Nav-Gerät, fertig montiert RJ45-Kabel D-SUB 15-Stecker zum Löten mit Quick Lock Verriegelungssystem (der Open-Vario Stecker / Kabelbaum ist kompatibel)

Via these interfaces it is possible, for example, to receive traffic data directly via cable from a FLARM as NMEA data and to control the radio directly without a Bluetooth adapter.

Currently, in VFRnav only Bluetooth and network can be selected as interfaces. It would be a great upgrade if the serial interfaces could also be used.

Best regards,
Philip

Hello Philip,

I want to give one last try with the upcoming update 💪

**Technical background:**
My suspicion is that the superuser version of the Android system on your device differs from the one on my test device back then. On other Android devices with a serial interface — for example the Naviter Oudie N — we were also able to successfully test the connection.

With the upcoming update we will therefore include a change that also supports older superuser versions.

So we’ll see whether the serial connection works on your SteFly with a version \>4.30.3.

If not, the last option will probably be a flight to EDWQ 👋

Clear skies
Hermann

I’m excited! Thanks 👍🏻

Otherwise we’d be happy to come by sometime. It’s not too far away 😉
