Hello everyone,
On my Android phone, the app no longer starts; only the blue aeroplane symbol appears.
Hello Markus,
After a program update or a map update?
- Which Android version?
- ||| …and close all apps
- If necessary it helps: System (gear) → Apps → VFRnav → Storage → Clear cache. Cache! Not data
Hello Karsten,
thank you for your feedback! I’ve tried the tips – it still doesn’t work.
I uninstalled the app and then reinstalled it, but that didn’t help either! Yesterday I installed the app on my old phone as a test and the app ran, asked for the activation code and worked as usual. On my current phone it was working too, but for about two weeks now it hasn’t got past the start icon (blue aeroplane).
My current phone:
Samsung A55
One UI version: 7.0
Android version: 15
Best regards
Markus
Hi Markus,
Hermann currently also needs to take a holiday, but he will certainly still give you tips.
What else I just thought of (because I had this happen with a pilot friend) ![]()
Question: Does the phone still have enough free memory?
I had exactly the same issue with that friend and his memory was completely full. Then VFRnav, for example, simply cannot load the environment and the maps.
Please check that again ![]()
Since it already ran on your new phone once, I’m not now thinking about permissions.
But another question: Do you have an additional memory card installed in the phone?
If so, is VFRnav installed on the memory card?
or:
Is VFRnav installed in the internal memory and only the maps on the possibly external card?
At this point, my recommendation:
Modern phones have plenty of memory today. Therefore, I recommend installing BOTH (VFRnav and the maps) in the internal memory. It’s technically logical that VFRnav will then run much more smoothly since, for example, it doesn’t have to load a vector graphic from a micro SD. …but that’s just a little tip ![]()
Give it a try and please write the results here..
Best regards, simply fly
Karsten
Hello Karsten,
I have been able to narrow down the problem further:
I first removed the SD card. The app then ran, but started without maps. The maps appear to be stored on the SD card. So I reinserted the SD card. Again only the old image (blue aeroplane) was visible and the programme did not start as before.
Could it be due to the external memory card?
Best regards,
Markus
Hi Karsten,
I’ve now inserted a new SD card and reloaded the flight charts – everything is working again ![]()
I then transferred the flight charts from the new SD card

…great that
Additionally:
I use only industrially tested micro SD cards for important technical systems in the Raspberry Pi environment (e.g. Stratux).
e.g. from Kingston Industrial (eBay/Amazon…)
