Bug(?): Panning in the airfield charts view

I’ve just noticed the following:

When you open one of the documents on the airfield information page, you can swipe back and forth between the individual documents. So far, so good. But if you zoom into one of the documents and then try to move around that document by panning, it immediately switches to the previous or next document (depending on the direction). Is this by design or is it a bug? I would actually expect that you could use that to shift the visible area within the current document.

Moin,

that’s due to the technical limitations of DFS’s AIP (Aeronautical Information Publication). We have no influence over that.

Damn. I’m having similar problems in my web application too. But I had hoped that in the app you’d actually download the documents and then display them, instead of just embedding the DFS display. In the web application that doesn’t work because of CORS.

  1. As Hermann already said: that’s not VFRnav’s fault. The technology of the DfS portal is the root cause here.

  2. ? …of course you can install the AIP (approach chart) for the respective airfield on the device via the AIP tab. Here you can then zoom in and out as needed. …

I know. But I’m not talking about the approach charts — it’s the taxi chart . I don’t want to display that on the navigation map at all; I only want to show it on the device. That’s possible in principle, but when it’s zoomed in I can’t pan around within it.

Btw: The ability to overlay approach charts from the AIP onto the navigation map is really awesome! Do you do the georeferencing automatically, or do you georeference every chart manually?

…the now-published AD charts of an airfield can be downloaded as a PDF…. e.g. via the DFS Portal. You can’t navigate in/on a PDF or a JPG…or…you can’t. You need a format with reference points, a completely different graphic like *.mbtiles and/or georeferencing. The AD charts are on the to-do list; this has already been discussed.:slightly_smiling_face:

→ Of course you don’t georeference the many AIP’s “…by hand”.

Blue skies,
