I know, this is a VFR navigation tool.
However.. it would be nice to be able to see and select the IFR waypoints, too.
I can, of course, define them as custom waypoints. This takes a lot of time - unless there were a bulk import tool.
These points are useful also for VFR pilots, when filing a flight plan. They make life for everyone involved a lot easier. So it would be nice to have them in the database right away.
→ Yes, I understand and support your request. From my own experience, I know that, especially in the Baltic states, their waypoints in the flight plan are a good choice. 2. VFRnav is for VFR pilots. Hermann needs to devote his energy to development, maintenance, and support. …I quickly added the IFR waypoints for such flights myself. This way, you learn for the flight right away.
Ah … Latvia
I remember a tour through the Baltics. Through Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. We ended up in Adazi. …I took a look. …Maybe the NavAids aren’t complete? …But I can find some on the map. Take a look…
I’d like to bump this thread and request again. The integration and (preferably optional) display of Five-Letter-Waypoints would be really helpful, not least for filing flight plans and flying in some European countries. Best regards!
A reliable up-to-date source ( database with access) is required for the integration).
I share your wish and my colleague’s too!
I still remember my tour through the Baltics. Back then the map offering we have today did not exist. At the time we built maps ourselves with Hermann’s support and integrated essential information. Because for the respective flight plans IFR points, among other things, were actually necessary.
I’ll gladly attach 3 examples.
That would at least be one option that VFRnav offers. Expanding the symbol library ( e.g. for mandatory reporting points) is on the To-Do list.
Of course this is not a final solution. But it will come.
Actually, I would also find the IFR points (Enroute lower airspace) very useful — I need them very often for NVFR and so they could be made toggleable, possibly even together with a night view.
