No more map updates

Hello,

I have installed VFRNav on 3 devices, and on one it seems that a map update no longer occurs. Checked by runway direction LOGF new 12/30, old 13/31. Two devices show 12/30 correctly (all V4.29.3, Android 11, Android 17), one shows the old information 13/31 (V4.29.3, Android 16). No use of SD cards!

I have already tried clearing the app cache (3x) and rebooting the tablet. No change. On the affected device the maps directory shows “Latest Version”. No version info is displayed for the maps.

PS: In this context I’m also submitting a feature request to show the map version.

Update: Deleting the map and re-downloading it shows no improvement.

Could you list the maps you’ve loaded?

Hello Hermann,

The loaded maps are: “Austria” (interestingly 2 entries, on all devices), “Hungary”, “Czech Republic”, “Germany - Munich”, “Croatia - NE”, “Slovenia”.

The only difference: the affected device is set to English, the other to a German-language GUI.

that was a very good hint from you :+1: Thanks for sharing this observation — I was able to find a possible cause.

Question: Can you delete both AT entries one after the other and then re-download this card? After that, is there only one entry and the correct version?

Hello Hermann

The “lower” entry can be deleted. The “upper” entry cannot be deleted. No reaction when clicking the little cross. Also no error message.

Reloading the “lower” map does not update the map data.

Hi Martin,

Version 4.29.4 should reach you over the course of the evening.

When you have a moment, please test the map update — and the prior deletion of the maps — again with this version and let me know briefly whether the problem is fixed.

Correct: Only one map entry left for AT; deleting and reloading works, the map is now updated again!

I always had two Austria maps too. I thought that was how it was…

With the new version there’s only one left.

Hello,

I’m also having an issue with VAC cards not displaying: the corresponding box is checked in the settings, but nothing appears. I do have the version from a few days ago.

Could you advise me, please?

Hello Christian,

Could you please describe your “problem report” here in a bit more detail? Do you mean Visual Approach Charts? Which “checkbox” where?
You can see, a bit more detailed content and, if applicable, a screenshot would help immensely.
…and regarding the “installed version”…the same applies! :grinning_face:

you mean the approach charts, right?
These are so far only available in certain regions. For France, for example, not yet.
