NOTAM-activated EDRs

First of all, a happy New Year :tada:

On Saturday I was in the air and I know there’s an EDR near Peenemünde.

It isn’t always active, and when it is, it’s announced in the NOTAMs.

Is it possible to set it so that these EDRs, which are activated by NOTAMs, are displayed permanently, just in a different colour?

Activated e.g. red

Deactivated e.g. grey-red

Also interesting for Poland.

At Use plan you can see which airspaces are currently closed.

Maybe you could tap into that site and display the information on the map?

Best regards
Daniel

Hello Daniel,

definitely a good “ thought”.

Yes, the EDR Peenemünde no longer exists at present. Therefore it is no longer on the map.

Personally I think that’s a good thing. Why? …as we all notice, information in the airspace is increasing. Drones, NOTAMs, low‑flying areas etc. it isn’t getting clearer.

So why should something be displayed that might possibly at some point be important to bear in mind?

So one might possibly ask oneself unnecessarily “…what was that area with the grey line again?”

…but that’s just my opinion!

Clear skies,

Karsten

That is of course also correct and was just a thought. I naturally also agree with your view; it is tidier that way.

The advantage I see is the visual feedback that the EDR has been recognised, but is simply disabled.

Regarding Peenemünde:

According to SUP 02/26, it is reinstated as of today until 31 December 2028.

…yes Daniel , those are indeed good points from you👍 Thanks!

Blue skies,

Hello KaBaPilot,

could you please paste the content here in a readable form? The link doesn’t work for me despite the DFS login.

I can only read at the DFS that the EDR Peenemünde had a final validity until 31/12/2025. …it will surely come back, yes.

Of course, I quickly took some screenshots.

Yesterday at midday VFRnav offered me a map update. After that, Peenemünde was displayed correctly on my end :+1:

Great! Thanks to you…………:+1:

I can confirm :+1::victory_hand:

Hello Daniel,

Many thanks for your suggestion :+1:

Although this topic is not currently a priority, further information on activation times and details from AUPs are already on the to-do list.

Pilot’s regards
