VFRnav 4.18 introduces several major improvements and a brand-new feature: multi-device synchronization.
What’s New?
New:Multi-device synchronization is now available for the first time.
This feature allows you to keep aircraft, routes, and flight log entries in sync across multiple devices.
The function is currently in beta testing and can be enabled in the settings.
We strongly recommend creating a backup before activating this option.
Improved: The aircraft selection dialog has been significantly enhanced — both in the main aircraft selection and within the route planning interface.
Additionally, the aircraft editing screen received multiple refinements and usability improvements.
New: The Pilot Information Bulletin (PIB) now supports an optional two-column layout, providing a more compact format ideal for printing.
New (Simulator Users): The connection to X-Plane 11 and 12 now also transmits attitude (AHRS) data, allowing VFRnav’s artificial horizon to be driven directly by X-Plane.
Fixes
Fix: Restores the last known position after restarting VFRnav
Fix:Route loading dialog under iOS
Fix:Airspace warning triggered for non-active airspaces
Fix: The last used aircraft was not saved correctly
As always, if you encounter any issues or have suggestions for improvement, we’d love to hear from you — either by email or right here in the forum.
I found the synchronization in the settings and activated it despite all the warnings.
The data exchange worked perfectly. You have to start it explicitly. But that’s no problem, since it’s still in testing.
I also had a flight on the tablet with the same identifier. It created two entries for it. I suspect it was due to a different internal identifier?! I deleted one entry, and otherwise everything is perfect. I changed the entry on the tablet, triggered the sync there and on the phone, and the entry was updated immediately there.
I can’t reproduce this behaviour on my devices so far.
A few ideas:
If an aircraft with the registration XY was manually added on both devices before the first sync, those entries won’t be automatically merged during syncing. This means that after the first sync, you may have two entries with the registration XY on both devices.
Could that be the case for you?
In that case, one of the duplicate entries can be deleted without any issues – this doesn’t affect the logbook or any other data.
It’s also important:
During the test phase, after each change to an aircraft, a logbook entry or any other synchronised data, the “Synchronise” button must be pressed on both devices in order for the changes to be transmitted correctly.
