How do I install VFRnav on my device?

VFRnav is available for Android and iOS devices and compatible with all reasonably up-to-date devices. For more detailed requirements, see the “System Requirements” section.

System Requirements

Android

  • Android 8.0 (Oreo) or higher
  • At least 3 GB of RAM recommended
  • GPS receiver (internal or external)
  • For online features: Internet connection via Wi-Fi or mobile data

iOS

  • iOS 15 or later
  • Compatible with iPhone and iPad
  • Built-in GPS functionality or external receiver (e.g. SkyEcho, Stratux, AirConnect)

Note on iPad compatibility

Please note: iPad models without a SIM card slot (so-called Wi-Fi-only variants) do not have an integrated GPS receiver and are therefore unsuitable for navigation. For reliable navigation with VFRnav, an external GPS receiver is required in this case.

Installation and First Steps

Android

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Search for “VFRnav”.
  3. Tap Install.
  4. Launch the app and grant the required permissions.

iOS

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Search for “VFRnav”.
  3. Tap Get.
  4. Launch the app.
