Feature Request: Distance/Bearing

Even though the interface is kept simple, it would be nice if you could also determine the distance and bearing between two points away from the flight path.

Since multi-touch otherwise doesn’t appear to be utilised, you could draw a corresponding line with two fingers and then manipulate the endpoints as needed. The bearing at the start and end points and the distance could be displayed.

@H655 - I searched for the topic and found it, but so far without any response.

Is such a feature planned?

Hello @bspline @KaBaPilot

We have that feature on our radar. But at the moment, there is no plan for implementation. The activation must be straightforward and the operation self-explanatory, without affecting any existing functionality.

Very good :+1:

In EasyVFR it works with multi-touch.

The order of the fingers determines the displayed course and the distance is independent of that.

I can’t say how difficult it is to implement.

Unfortunately, I’m not technically familiar with that. But great that it’s on the agenda. :+1:

Kind regards,

Thanks! Could you describe it in more detail? Two-finger gestures are already assigned to zoom.

With EasyVFR, for example, the bearing is determined by the order of the fingers.

The bearing is therefore displayed in the direction from the first finger to the subsequently placed finger.

When you want to zoom, the ruler automatically appears. You can prevent this by adding a button to switch between zoom and ruler (my idea).

The zoom function via the volume buttons can remain active at the same time.

So you either have:

Zoom via buttons and bearing

Or

Zoom via buttons and finger zoom.

That’s the rough explanation. If you have any questions, just ask.

Kind regards, Daniel
